Violin Lessons in Arlington Heights, IL
One-on-one violin instruction for kids, teens, and adults at The Arlington School of Music — in person at our downtown Arlington Heights studio or online.
Violin students at The Arlington School of Music study with conservatory-trained performers. Faculty violinist Erin Yerin Kim is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied under Jaime Laredo and Stephen Rose. She was the youngest musician in history to join the roster of the New World Symphony — at eighteen — and has served as concertmaster of orchestras including the Honors Performance Series Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
Lessons build the fundamentals that violin demands — posture, bow arm, intonation, tone production — while keeping the joy of music-making front and center. Beginners start with proper setup and simple melodies; advancing students prepare for school orchestra placements, honor ensembles, competitions, and college prescreens.
Located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights, we serve violin students from Mount Prospect, Palatine, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, and across the Northwest Suburbs — in person or online.

Violin Lessons — Frequently Asked Questions
What size violin does my child need?›
Violins come in fractional sizes (1/16 up to full size) matched to arm length. Your teacher will measure your child at the first lesson and recommend the right size — most families rent smaller sizes and buy once the student reaches full size.
At what age can children start violin?›
Many students begin between ages 5 and 8 with a fractional-size instrument, but there is no upper limit — we teach beginning teens and adults as well.
Can you prepare my child for school orchestra auditions?›
Yes. Our violin faculty regularly prepares students for school placements, honor orchestras, youth symphony auditions, competitions, and college prescreens.
Do you offer online violin lessons?›
Yes. Students can take lessons in person at our Arlington Heights studio or online, and many families combine both to fit their schedules.
