Guitar
Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Guitar: From classical to flamenco and contemporary styles, our guitar programs build technique, tone, and musicality at every level.
Guitar at ASM blends classical right-hand discipline, flamenco compás, and modern chord/lead vocabulary. We build tone (rest vs. free stroke), ergonomic shifts, groove pocket, and creative arranging—covering classical etudes, rasgueados, pop harmony, and social-ready riffs to keep Gen Z/Alpha engaged while parents see structured progress.
Historically, guitar evolved from Renaissance lute to Romantic salon centerpiece and today’s concert, pop, and film-scoring staple. We frame Sor/Giuliani for mechanics, Paco de Lucía phrasing for feel, and fingerstyle/lofi textures for contemporary storytelling. Students plug into GFA youth contests, school talent shows, open mics, church/wedding gigs, and ensemble spots around Chicago.
Influential artists—Segovia, Julian Bream, John Williams, Paco de Lucía, Tommy Emmanuel—guide our tone and phrasing labs. Outcomes: harmonic literacy, rhythmic acuity, arranging chops, and stage/livestream readiness for recitals, bands, auditions, and content drops.
We emphasize fretboard visualization, improvisation frameworks, recording basics, and collaborative skills for rock bands, worship teams, and chamber ensembles. Students can pursue college portfolios, regional showcases, and viral short-form performances.
